Garners and a new Mexican restaurant could come to Fremont as early as this fall.
Mark Lamb, president of Lamb Real Estate, announced that Fremont Center LLC purchased one acre ofland Wednesday
from Charlie Diers in the Deer Pointe subdivision, and will erect a 1O,500-square-foot shopping center-style building. Lamb
Real Estate is the developer.
Marlin Brabec of Don Peterson and Associates represented Diers in the transaction.
"We're going to build a mirror image building of the one we have out there now, the one with Jimmy John's on one end and
U.S. Cellular on the other end," Lamb said.
The existing building at East Elk Lane on the south side of East 23rd Street across from Walmart opened in 2007.
The new building will be built west ofthe existing building and they will sit back to back, Lamb explained.
"We have 7,000 square feet leased," he said. "Part of that is to Gamers."
Gamers buys, sells and trades new and used video games.
A family-owned Mexican restaurant also has space reserved.
The remaining 3,500 feet could go to one business or be split into two or three businesses, Lamb said.
Construction is slated to start immediately with completion in the fall, he said.
JFK Construction of Omaha, the same company that built the original building, is the general contractor.
"This is terrific news for Fremont," Fremont Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ron Tillery said.
"We expect that there are other opportunities in the pipeline right now that are similar to this," he added. "As the economy
recovers we're going to continue to see good announcements like this."
